About Me

My Mind Recently Went on Vacation and Forgot to Invite Me Along!
~WAFord~

"Friendship is a living thing that lasts only as long as it is nourished with kindness, empathy and understanding."
~Unknown~

Obviously my name is William A. Ford, but please, call me Bill.

I now live in Virginia with my wife, Linda.

Linda and I were married in 1993 and went to Bermuda for our Honeymoon...What an awesome place!

We have three children; Crystal, Nathan and Andrew.

Crystal has has two daughters, Piper-Lynn and Theresa Pearl. Nathan has a daughter, Dakota Ann. Andrew is married to Krystie and they have a daughter, Alisa Gabriel.

Andrew joined the Army in 2007 and is a Military Police Officer stationed at West Point, NY.

I was born and raised in Florida, moved to New Hampshire where I met my wife and children, and then we moved to Virginia where we are currently residing. We enjoy camping, when we have the time, and our favorite spot is the Rodanthe KOA Campground on the Outer Banks.

I am disabled, and since I now have so much free time, I like to tinker with computers and help others with their computer problems when I can. I started playing with computers back in 1991, but didn't get seriously involved with them until 1993 when we bought our first computer. Now I build, repair, and play games on computers regularly. :-)

I was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome in '94 and found out that I had an aortic root aneurysm and a bicuspid aortic valve. I injured my back (two herniated discs) in '88 and my knee (tore my ACL) in '89 and because of this I live with Chronic Pain. I had my knee operated on the first time in '96, but that didn't end well and I blew out my ACL again in '97. I had it operated on a second time in '99 and even though surgery was successful this time, my knee is still loose and pops out of joint on occasion. In 2003 I was diagnosed with chronic depression and in late 2005 I was diagnosed with ADHD (which explains a LOT from my childhood. :-))

I had an operation on July 7th, 2008 to repair the anuerysm and replace the valve. I now have a mechanical valve and will be on warfarin for the rest of my life. And, I click and/or tick...Like a clock...That should make things interesting should a security officer at an airport ever hear this thing tickin' away. LOL!

I spend A Lot of Time Online. I participate in various forums assisting people with various problems. I enjoy discussing "real" BBQ, Disability Related Issues, Computer Building, Gaming and Help & How-To Issues, and Web Site Creation.

I have several web sites that I own and maintain for various reasons. This site, obviously, is my personal web site, and I have included Disability Information & Links along with other personal info I care about and help others with. I also have a BBQ Fools web site, a "Testing" web site for playing with various "things," and one more for my personal rants about Stupid or Just Ignorant Companies.

I obviously research quite a few different subjects, so if there is something you're looking for, or are having a hard time finding, . Most of my time is spent looking for information and I can usually find what someone needs.

I hope you enjoy the site and would love to you may have on how to make it better or even links to more sites related to the various subjects I now have on this site. Of course this site will change regularly, so come back and check it out again soon.

Enjoy!

Bill Ford
